They plan to build an indoor playground for shopping mall to increase foot traffic and dwell time. Efficient Space Utilization for 3.5m Ceiling Height

 

With an indoor ceiling height of just 3.5 meters, our design team adopted a three-dimensional layered circulation plan to maximize play functions per unit area using modern indoor playground equipment. This not only enriches children's experiences but also effectively extends parent-child dwell time, driving secondary spending.

 

 

Ground-level modern indoor playground equipment includes a ball pit area, role-playing area, and activity zone for younger children, creating a safe parent-child interaction circle.

 

Upper level features a honeycomb maze and climber area forming a three-dimensional exploration network, with ring-shaped walkways connecting multiple spaces, increasing per-capita play area by 30% while avoiding congestion common in traditional flat layouts.

 

Beehive Theme Design & Color Palette

 

Centered around the theme "Bees and Flowers," elements such as black-and-yellow bee stripes, hexagonal honeycombs, and flowers are brought to life through custom manufacturing and installations. The overall color saturation is controlled at 60–70%, striking a balance between appealing to children's visual preferences and avoiding overstimulation.

 

 

Five Growth-Oriented Play Zones

 

1. Activity Area

 

From the entrance shoe cabinet area to various functional zones, a "circular + vertical" dual circulation is created to avoid backtracking and congestion. A stylish shoe cabinet is placed at the entrance, with a carousel in the center. The shoe cabinet, sand pit, and dynamic play equipment form a triangular flow pattern, effectively dispersing crowds at the entrance and reducing peak-hour congestion.

 

2. Honeycomb Maze

 

A 3.2-meter-high three-dimensional maze that trains children's spatial awareness and cognitive abilities through challenging path designs. The maze's challenge and variability significantly increase repeat play rates.

 

3. Role-Playing Area

 

After extensive climbing, jumping, crawling, and sliding in the activity area and honeycomb maze, the role-playing area serves as an ideal transition zone. Children can enter a relatively quieter play space after high-intensity activities, helping them regain energy and extending overall dwell time.

 

4. Ball Pit Area

 

Designed with contrasting colors, bright yellow is used to reinforce the theme. The ball pit depth is controlled at 0.3 meters (suitable for children aged 3–10), with soft cushioning embedded at the bottom and safety guardrails along the edges to ensure safe use.

 

 

5. Climber Area

 

Equipped with professional-grade spring trampolines featuring edge anti-fall design. The suspended walkway connects over a dozen challenge points, including cross punching bags, rope bridges, and spider webs, enriching play layers and sustaining children's interest.
